Exploring San Fransico

Today was a pretty relaxed day, and despite trying to take a lot more pictures, I took about four. Go me! We went to Fisherman's Wharf and the Gladstone Research Institute.

After breakfast, we took the bus to the wharf and were told to be back at the bus at noon. My group of six went to Ghiradelli Square first, but had to kill some time waiting for them to open. We managed to walk through the sand down to the beach in our flats and heels. We took some pictures and a selfie!

Looking out onto the bay.
Chamberlain, Mel, and then me.
Claudia, Debora, Mel, Chamberlain, Me, and Madison.
After that, we went back to the original Ghiradelli Chocolate Shop and made what I think is the best decision ever: having ice cream at 10:30 in the morning. Then we went back down to the wharf and went to a seafood cafe. I tried calamari for the first time! Aside for the slightly gooey texture, I was pretty okay with it until I saw that the suckers were STILL ON!

Anyway, after the wharf we went to the Gladstone Research Facility. It is huge and has about 300 doctors, all with PhDs. We had two lectures and then a Q&A session. The first lecture was on stem cells and understanding neurological diseases. The second was on new research on the immune system. They were both super cool and really captivating.

I don't know why I like this, but I do. It's so organized!
When we got back my a few from my group went to a thai place down the street from our dorms. Then Mike Walsh gave a leadership lecture, and that was both funny and educational.

I know this post was pretty short, but I really have to go to bed. :)
